We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so,
because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of
you has for each other is increasing (2 Thessalonians 1:3) |
GIFT (Growing in faith
together)
Introduction
How would you like your faith in Christ to mean
even more in your life, and to find joy in asking and answering some of the
big questions? Why not come (once, twice, every week...) and join the small
Parish group which meets in the hall on Wednesday evenings to "Grow in
Faith Together"?
"Come, just as you are, before your God, come..."
Starting at 20.30 with tea, coffee and biscuits (wine sometimes!) and
continuing until about 22.00, we sing, pray and discuss topics arising from
our desire to deepen and really know and experience our Christian faith.
Someone might have a particular question arising from an experience in the
family, at church or at work, or have been struck by a particular book,
saying or encounter. Alternatively, we might decide to study a passage of
Scripture which we find inspirational or challenging.
Discussions are friendly, fulfilling, wide-ranging and often very moving,
and everyone can contribute either just by listening or by voicing any
questions and opinions.
"G.I.F.T" evening are a window of prayer and serenity, oxigen for
your spirit and living water to quench your thirst. Why not come along and
"love Him more dearly, see Him more clearly, follow Him more nearly,
day by day"? - you really will be very welcome

A bit of history
The group started a few years ago after the Alpha course
given in the Parish when some people expressed a desire to continue sharing
and reflecting on faith-related questions. When asked what the group meant
to them after a couple of years, what stood out was how much the group had
helped them to grow in their faith and the fellowship between people. This
is where the name “GIFT” comes from.
The group meets from 8pm to 10 pm every Wednesday at the parish. In the past we have worked with a number of videos that have deepened our spiritual life ( with topics such as Life in Christ - a study of Romans 12, Exploring the Catholic church, Catholics listening to God, Catholics making a difference, Guilt-free parenting ....) and more recently we have devoted more time to bible study (The letter to the Philippians) and to praying the bible
(lectio divina).
The group is open to everyone.
