So
many reasons to thank the Lord
Dear Parishioners,
Since the publication of our last "Parish Life" we have experienced momentous occasions of many mixed emotions. At the Easter Vigil Celebration, we had the joyful experience of four adult members of our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
(R.C.I.A.) catechumenate being received into full Communion with the Catholic Church by receiving the Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist and two adult Baptised Christians entering into full Communion with the Catholic Church by receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. We heartily congratulate and welcome into our Parish Faith Community Miatta Mamie Johnny, Sahr Emmanuel Johnny, Isata Muminata Johnny, Hazel Lindsay, Kathryn Malinski and Alison Claire
Aldred. And also on Saturday April 16th Alexandra (aged 11 yrs.) and Sara (aged 7 yrs.)
Mochnacz. We trust that their inclusion in our Parish will continue to enrich them and us.
After Easter we had the sadness of the final illness and death of our late beloved Pope John Paul II. What a wonderful global experience of Faith and Solidarity tinged with sadness was his funeral Mass and Burial Rite! .... And then we had the excitement and joy of the solemn election and installation of our new Pope Benedict XVI! May the Good Lord keep him safe
from all harm and guide him in his extremely difficult Petrine ministry as the centre of Communion of the Catholic Church. He needs our prayers daily.
Then we had the excitement of the celebration of the First Holy Communion of so many of our children on April 24th, May 1st and May 7th. We are deeply grateful to our teacher/catechists and their helpers, their parents and all who helped to make these three celebrations so memorable. And the Lord blessed us with wonderful weather as a bonus! Now we look forward to 45 of our young parishioners being Confirmed in the Holy Spirit Bishop Fiachra O Ceallaigh
O.F.M. on the Feast of Pentecost. The Lord is so good to us His people in St. Anthony's Parish!
After Pentecost our Parish Fayre Committee and their team of helpers bring to near-completion the work of preparation they have been engaged in since last October for our Annual Parish Fayre on Sunday June 12th next. We are deeply grateful to all of them for their involvement and hard work. This year the Fayre looks like being the biggest and best yet. What a wonderful, enjoyable day we experience at our Fayre every year! May the
good Lord who blesses us in so many, many ways, continue His bounteous goodness to us all!
Sincerely yours in Him,
Your Pastors, Fathers Vincent and
John
