Welcome to St. Anthony's

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Greetings at the beginning of a new year of Faith and Service in our International English-Speaking Roman Catholic Parish of St. Anthony in the Brussels area. It is in the nature of our parish community that every year up to one third of our parishioners depart to other parts of the world and are replaced by others coming from all parts of the world to join our parish faith community. All Catholic Christian communities are in principle missionaries for Jesus, who commissioned us to “Go out into the whole world and preach (i.e. share) the Good News (of God’s love and forgiveness and protection), and baptise them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28: 19-20). We bid a fond farewell to those who have left us and trust that they will have been enriched in their Catholic Faith and practice during their sojourn with us here in Brussels and that they will continue to deepen and share their Faith with others in their new parishes abroad.

We welcome all newcomers to our parish and hope that all will enjoy our annual “Meet and Greet” Sunday when we have the opportunity of registering as parishioners and registering our children in the various Religious Education/Catechetics programmes, as well as volunteering for the various ministries in our faith community. This year we need to replace many people who left us during the summer for new pastures. We are particularly in need of volunteers for service in our Religious Education/Catechetics programmes. I appeal to you to get involved. You have many talents which you can give to our faith community. I beg to give us at least one of your talents. We need you, just as much as you need us. Please sign up in at least one of the ministries which are so important in our Parish.

I am now in my seventy-first year of age and my twelfth year as Pastor of St Anthony’s Parish, and I am feeling the burden of my years. As a Parish we now have to face the difficulty of finding a successor as soon as possible. If you have any ideas or suggestions we would welcome them. May God keep you all in the palm of His hand.
Sincerely in Him,

Your Pastors, Fathers Vincent and John
