We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so,
because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of
you has for each other is increasing. (2 Thessalonians 1:3) |
Ministries
Introduction
There are many ways for the lay to participate in the Parish
Life, and particularly to the celebration of the "Sacrament of Sacraments",
the Eucharist. If you feel called to participate more actively in Sunday celebration, here you can find the different ministries that are actually in
operation in the Parish. In each of the Ministries you will find the name
and contact data of the responsible of the area. But if you need further
information or guidance, please contact the Parish
Office.

Music
We welcome anyone who can play an instrument or sing to lead
the music at any of the Masses. We cannot always be there every week, so
even if there is music regularly, you could volunteer to fill in for
occasional absences. We also need extra help at Christmas and Easter when
many people are away.

Ushers
Ushers - or Greeters - are members of a team who welcome
their fellow-worshippers (on a rota basis) at the beginning of Mass. We
very much appreciate this ministry, as there are often hymn books,
flyers or other papers to give out and tidy away again afterwards.

Altar Servers
The role of the Altar Servers is to help bring the assembly
to a fuller understanding of the liturgy and so to a greater love for God.
Altar Servers, through the actions they perform and by the way in which they
perform them, serve as a sign of their faith and their love for God and for
God's people.

Sacristans
The job involves looking after the Sacristy as regards stocks
of required items, preparing for services, clearing up afterwards and
counting and banking the money taken at the weekly collections.

Eucharistic Ministers
We have 40 Eucharistic Ministers; so this means that people
end up being scheduled to assist every 2 or 3 weeks. The Ministers are
asked to "swap" or let me know if they are away etc., so that things can
run smoothly, but this doesn't always work! People tend to move on quite
often, so we always need new volunteers!

Readers
We are a group of about 25 people serving as readers
during the liturgy, proclaiming the Word of God, reading the Prayers of
the Faithful on behalf of the assembly. We meet at least once a year to
welcome newcomers to our group, to discuss any problems or issues in
connection with reading in liturgies and to exchange tips on how to
improve our style and delivery of reading.

Linen
Ideal for those parishioners looking for a vitally important
way to serve the St. Anthony's Parish community, but with only limited time
available. This ministry entails collecting, laundering and pressing the
soiled sacramental linen once weekly at your own convenience.

Flower
arrangements
We are at the moment a group of 6 volunteers who take
care of the altar flowers throughout the year on a rota system. It is
very flexible as we are all absent from time to time - each volunteer
does about 6 Sundays a year.
