Mothers Prayers

Introduction

When we pray for our children we must try to think: “ What would He wish for them?”

Mothers Prayers was started in England in 1995 by two women who felt led by the Lord to pray in a special way for their children. Since then, thousands of groups in more than 80 countries have been praying for their children at weekly gatherings.

Our Mothers Prayers group here at St Anthony’s had been meeting regularly when I returned to the parish in 2003. Mothers, grandmothers and carers have joined us, some coming from other Mothers Prayer groups, others joining a group for the first time. Currently, there are six of us, meeting weekly on Friday mornings to pray together as a parish community for our own children and the children of the world. We pray also for any special intention that has been placed in the Mothers Prayers basket which is beside the tabernacle in the Church.

We meet in the Parish Centre each Friday morning from 10.00 to 10.55am.and then join in the celebration of the Eucharist at 11.00am in the Oratory.

Lord, give me the eyes to see you in my children,
your heart to love them,
and your gentleness to help them grow.
Give me your wisdom to guide them
and your strength when I need to let them go. Amen

If you would like to ask for prayer, to receive a Mothers Prayers booklet or any further information, please contact me or one of the members of the group. Alternatively, come along on a Friday morning.

If you are new to our parish you and your children are especially welcome.
