Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord . (Psalm 150)

Music

Introduction

The folk group at the Sunday 11:30 Mass is the longest-established music group at St. Anthony’s. We welcome anyone who can play an instrument or sing to lead the music at any of the Masses. We cannot always be there every week, so even if there is music regularly, you could volunteer to fill in for occasional absences. We also need extra help at Christmas and Easter when many people are away.

10:00 Family Mass Music
Music is provided for the 10:00 Family Mass by a small but friendly group of adults and children. We are always looking for more people to join us, particularly from the younger members of the Parish Community. Everyone who enjoys making music (either singing or playing an instrument) would be most welcome. All abilities are free to join us. If you are interested, we would love to hear from you. As of 25 September 2005 we will be meeting at 09h00 in the church to practice before Mass.

11:30 Mass: Saint Anthony's Parish Folk Group
Our (12.00) Folk Group was founded in September 1985 and is celebrating in 2004 20th birthday. There remain three of the original gathering still singing/playing with the group today. The first hymn learned on that first night so long ago was ‘Blessed be the Lord’, which is still a favourite today. Within a short time of its humble beginnings in the church hall, the group had expanded to about a dozen members.

Strangely enough, 12 has been the average membership over the years but if everyone who has ever been with us were to come back to Brussels our numbers would soar to over 40. Over the years we have had wonderful voices and wonderful musicians join our ranks, always contributing so much to our Sunday mass celebrations and encouraging our congregations to ‘Sing Praise to the Lord’.

Today, we continue to sing our songs of worship alongside our congregations and strive to make our celebrations as meaningful as possible. We are always happy to have new members – both singers and musicians – and would encourage any of you to share with us the joys of being a part of this experience.
