The financial situation of the Parish

Kraineem (29 May 2003)

By the Finance Council

The Parish Finance Council meets each month to review a wide range of aspects dealing the financial management and running of the Parish.

In a parish the size of St Anthonys, it is important each month to review the state of the finances, planned expenditure and major infrastructure projects and their cost implications and whether the Parish can actually afford to embark on new projects.

The council has in recent months been reviewing the cost and implications of a number of potentially significant projects which would improve the facilities at St Anthonys. These include fencing around the grounds, especially by the river in front of the church, a possible extra pathway to the church, and extra classroom space by way of “Portacabins”. Some of these developments you hopefully will see happening over the summer months.

In the case of parish income, a major steady source of income is the monthly standing orders. Presently, just over 150 individuals or families contribute by way of a standing order. This is a little low, relative to the total numbers who come here every weekend. We would very much like to see more people contributing in this way, so please consider this as a means of support and, if necessary, talk to any of us on the Finance Council.

The Parish Fayre is a major income source for the Parish, so please enjoy it and spend your money!

Current membership of the Council is: Liam Breslin (chair); Father Vincent Galloley, John Fermoile, Yvonne Nielssen, Marc Quaghebeur, Julianna Sodro, Nicole Smith, Johny Van den Bracht, Lindy Martin, Louise Brenninkmeyer, Clementine George.
