Africa! a celebration
Kraineem (24 March 2004)
By Judith Martin
We often hear negative reports of Africa,
and rarely hear good tidings. But in fact, there is much of African
culture we can all enjoy and respond to - fashion, music, dance, and the
famous South African wine. Not to mention the sunshine and wildlife. So
put the date in your calendar now, 18th April, and prepare to have lunch
at church and enjoy an afternoon of family entertainment. In true St
Anthony’s style, the Knights will provide a braai (South African
barbeque) and there will be original and traditional music by 2
excellent groups. To add to the fun, there will be a tombola and lots of
workshops and games for the children and young at heart.
Proceeds will go to the educational expenses of some of our
parishioners, who are nursing students in Brussels. There will be no set
charge for the lunch, we rely on your generosity and the spirit of
celebration. We will use a ticket system like at the Fayre for the other
elements of the afternoon.
To add to everyone’s enjoyment, please come wearing traditional clothing
if you are African, and improvise something colourful if not! Make it a
party to remember!
