Tsunami Appeal Update

Kraineem (19 May 2005)

By Jenni Handayani

SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA (1193-1231). Feast Day: 13 June.

Dear Parishioners,

Thank you for your support for our Charity Concert on April 16. On the night, we all sang the story of Easter in rock and roll style and raised EUR 700 towards our tsunami charity funds. The sale price for tickets was EUR 10 for adult and EUR 5 for children. Singers and musicians also paid. The sum raised will go to the same foundation (PULIH in Jakarta) we supported during our previous tsunami appeal in January, which raised EUR 5000,63 (half for CARITAS International, half for PULIH). I would like to thank Nigel Ward, Susan and Paddy Mc-Eneaney for initiating and organizing the program and giving the funds to PULIH.

PULIH is a foundation for trauma intervention and psychosocial recovery, and is now building up its work to provide counseling not only for the tsunami victims but also for humanitarian workers as well. The daughter of one of our parishioners is working with PULIH in Aceh, Indonesia. According to her, there is a great need for counseling for workers facing the enormous task of assisting in the devastated area.
