Wednesday Evenings at Saint Anthony’s are a GIFT – « Growing in Faith Together »

Kraainem (19 August 2006).- “You will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride upon the high hills of the earth”, we are promised through Isaiah. For parishioners who meet every Wednesday evening in the ‘GIFT’ group, 90 minutes of song, of prayer and discussion give some idea of that joy, and some small experience of what it is to dance on those high hills hand-in-hand with our God. 

Why not come and join us over a cup of tea, and tell us (or indeed discover!) what your faith really means to you? It might well be one of your best-ever decisions!

‘GIFT’ has been in existence for about 5 years now, and we (usually between 4 and 10 people) meet from 20.30 to 22.00, in one of the parish centre rooms, to spend a little time in informal fellowship, talking to each other and seeking the face of the Lord. “I would you might know to what joy you are called”.

Someone might have a particular question arising from an experience in the family, at church or at work, or have been struck by a particular book, saying or encounter. Alternatively, we might decide to study a passage of Scripture which we find inspirational or challenging. 

You may want to make this a time for quiet prayer, for listening, for asking questions, for voicing your fears and perplexity as a searching Christian, for sharing the joy you find in Christ – there are no rules, just the nearness of Our Lord and the serenity borne on the Spirit’s breath…… “Why should you pay the price – except for the Lord”?

It is a wonderful thing to “love Him more dearly, see Him more clearly, follow Him more nearly, day by day”, and to discern God’s will in the hope that our lives as Christians can make an authentic difference, to us and to those we meet.
