The ‘Alpha’ Course is coming back to Saint Anthony’s !

You may already be familiar with the ‘Alpha’ concept (www.alpha.org), and remember the Course which was run in our Parish back in 2006. The good news is that ‘Churches Together’ (see the accompanying description of this multi-church Brussels initiative) will be organising another Alpha Course, based in our parish, during the Spring of 2008. 

Alpha is aimed at those who wonder what their lives are for, who Jesus is, why He came, how He can change lives, how to explore what it means to be a created being with a spiritual dimension. It is for those who want their lives to count, but are wondering how Christianity can be the answer to the ‘holes’ in their existence, to the deep yearning we all feel for something more, something authentic and of beauty that society seems unable to provide…..

We would be delighted to have volunteers to help organise and run this wonderful and unique course, which covers 12 weeks and includes a weekend away. ‘Alpha’ is a most inspiring and gratifying experience, and everyone I know who has been involved, at whatever level, has found it enjoyable and profitable.

The 2008 course will be run on Thursday evenings from 19.00H to 21.30H, starting with a shared meal, centred on a 40-minute video talk by the Anglican priest Nicky Gumbel, and concluding with small group discussions. The environment is friendly, non-judgmental and pressure-free, and we would be truly happy if you could invite friends and acquaintances who are interested in the questions tackled during the programme, 

We need help with loads of things: cooking, preparing tables, collecting people from the metro, washing up, helping small group discussions, etc. etc.

Please, invite your friends, come along to Alpha, help us put the Course together…..
