English speaking churches in Brussels work together
By Chris Guichot de Fortis
Kraainem (13 December 2007).- “Churches Together” is an informal association offering its services as a resource to all the English-speaking churches in the Brussels region. Churches which wish to be associated are invited to nominate one or more representatives to join in planning and promoting initiatives. The initiative enjoys the patronage of BESPA (Brussels English-Speaking Pastors Association). The vision of "Churches Together" is that all Christian Churches work together in harmony and purpose, as requested by the Gospel: “Then they will be one with each other, just as you and I are one.” (John 17:11b)
Through sharing and combining resources we have the following purposes:
To seek a deepening of members’ communion with Christ and with one another in the Church, which is His body.
To fulfil our mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world
For our own church members; to raise their awareness of the reality of those in other denominations who share their allegiance to Jesus Christ.
For society at large; to raise awareness of the strength of shared belief within the diversity of the Christian Church.
To combine resources for special outreach such as Alpha.
To create greater impact with one-off shared events.
To be a resource that can be used by the affiliated churches for special initiatives.
"Churches Together” organises, or promotes, whole-day or evening events every year, usually in the Spring and Autumn. An Alpha Course will usually be organised every other year. These events will be aimed at inspiring Christians and those interested in or challenged by Christianity to live, (re)discover and deepen their faith in the company of invited speakers. Topics will reflect the questions and dilemmas faced by people of Christian faith in the 21st Century. Enquiries: Tel: 02 767 9772 or email:
