A "Toussaint" for all the children

By Fiona Murray

Kraainem (13 December 2007).- On Saturday 20 October St Anthony’s organized a “Toussaint” (All Saints) Party for children in the Parish hall. It was a great event and very well attended. This was an ideal opportunity to ‘rescue’ the wonderful celebration of All Saints from the commercial world of Halloween. The children, from 0-10, played games, came dressed as a favourite Saint or a heavenly body. A whole range of games devised by creative parents was set up form them, including ‘Pin the halo on the donkey’, ‘Apple and Eve apple bobbing’, ‘St Francis Relays’, ‘Christianary’ (variation of Pictionnary), ‘Musical Saints’ (as opposed to chairs) and, of course, given the venue, ‘St Anthony’s find the hidden objects’ . Not to be outdone by the Halloween festivities, there was also plenty and more of the traditional goodies to eat and take way, generously prepared by the parents. We hope this will be the first of an annual party for children of the parish.
