Apologies:
Horst Dengler and Lori Urbanek.
Brigid said the opening prayer and the meeting began at 19.45.
Matters Arising from the January Minutes:
The Council sends its best wishes to Dorothy Boyer who is about to have an operation.
Dorothy has suggested a meeting with Tim & Pam Molloy who are working at All Saints and Our Lady of Mercy with their youth groups. It is hoped that we can join forces with them. Fr. John said the meeting had been arranged for April 23.
The Minutes were approved.
Payment to the Archdiocese:
The Finance Council met with Lode Vermeir at their January meeting and discussed our situation with him. It was decided that we would make a contribution of €4200 per year although this has not been verified. The Parish Council mandated Liam Breslin to make this offer to the diocese and we’ll see how it is accepted.
COMISE and the Lenten Charities:
It was decided that the 6th slot for the Lenten charities should go to Fr.Vincent’s former parish in El Salvador and will be taken up on his anniversary weekend. The collection for Broederlijke Delen will be taken on one of the other weekends. Yvonne will put a note of explanation in Words. We will let the parish in El Salvador put the money where they know it is needed most.
The COMISE collection will take place later in the year.
Parish Celebration:
Fr. Vincent wants a simple celebration; it will be held after the 11.30 Mass and will be finger foods and throwaway plates & cutlery. Dan is holding a meeting on Wednesday evening and he will let us know any outcomes. There will be a sign up sheet after the Masses and Dan can also be phoned or emailed.
Cookery Book:
Mark will get some basic prices and email them to us. We now need to start requesting recipes.
A.O.B.:
Fayre: the Tombola tickets are to go out with the children, probably after the last class (April 30) but hopefully sooner (April 2).
Lots of suggestions were put forward for groups to perform for 15 minute slots and Yvonne will be following these up.
Again, prizes are needed as are volunteers.
Alpha: running from 8 March – 7 June (excluding 12 & 19 April) on Wednesday evenings at 19.30. The priests will advertise it at the end of Masses. Midweek Mass will be held on Thursdays during this time.
Words: for our next meeting, we need to think about whether the format of Words should change e.g. to include Mass readings.
Dan said the closing prayer and the meeting ended at 21.15.
