Apologies:

Brigid Alty and Brian O’Neill.

Bernie said the opening prayer and the meeting began at 19.50hrs – again, note time please!!

Matters Arising from the February Minutes:

It should read Tim and Pam Mobley not Molley.
Everyone seems to be happy with Words as it is; perhaps it will be reviewed later in the year.
Cookery Book: Brigid has seen a local printer and he can produce one, with a plasticized front, for €6.
Fr. Vincent was congratulated on his 40th Anniversary, his 70th birthday and his 10 year anniversary of being in the Parish.
Huge thanks to Dan and Ada for all their work to make the celebration happen.
The letter has gone off to the Diocese re the monies.
Dorothy Boyer is recovering well from her operation.

The Minutes were approved.

Maintenance:

On Monday, the work on the parking area will begin (at 7 am!). Johny will carefully monitor the work so that it goes according to plan. It should take approximately 2 weeks but will be cleared at the weekends for Masses.
There is some evidence of flooding in the grounds but there doesn’t appear to be a leak.
Priests’ showers: the tap and shower water go into the sewage system and are being pumped up the road; this is because, when the new piping was done, everything was connected together. Although it would be more ecological to have this water going into the river, it was decided that it would be very disruptive to change the system and the cost of pumping this extra water was probably minimal.
The extension to the alarm system should have been done today but will be completed shortly.
Fencing: the Finance Council have given the go ahead to complete the fencing between us and next door. The Gemeente will do the work where the tree came down in the next couple of months.
Tarmac: only one quote came in and was about €40,000 including TVA. It will go from the new classroom down but not round the roundabout. The complete job will include cutting the tree roots. Some companies have not sent quotes because they are not happy with the roots; companies give a 10 year guarantee on the tarmac but the roots grow back and break up the tarmac. It was decided that we would wait and see if any other quotes come in. The one quote we have gives us 5cm thick tarmac at a price of €12.50/m2. This is the same price as 5 years ago. The tarmac itself costs €15,000 and the rest of the money is for the work.
Entrance gates: have only received one quote for this as well.
Light bulbs: a few need changing in the Hall plus the Sacristy and the toilet in the Church.

Video:

Paddy had the idea of showing Mel Gibson’s “Passion of Christ” sometime during Lent. Horst felt that if it is shown, it should be a trigger to further discussion as many issues will probably arise from it. It will be shown on Friday 7 April at 19.00

Open meeting:

This is the meeting that we suggested at the December meeting. It was decided that a steering group should meet on Tuesday 28 March at 20.00 and then open it up to the Parish on Sunday 2 April at 12.45. An announcement must go in Words this week.

Video players:

Barry will contact Brian to discuss what the problems are.

AOB:

Number boards are still needed for the left hand side of the altar.
Alpha was a great success last week, with about 60 there.

Lori said the closing prayer and the meeting ended at 20.55hrs.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday 4 April at 19.30 hrs.
